Google analytics is one of the most important tools every business owner should use for their digital strategy.

Why?  Because with Google analytics you can track and monitor if your online marketing efforts are working, what content visitors are interested in, which device visitors are using and many other insights.

But most of all, it allows you to make informed decisions and invest your resources wisely and grow your business.

In this post/video, I am going to show you how to set up and install Google analytics if you are running your website on WordPress or Wix so you can track your visitors’ activity.

Here go 3 important reasons to use Google Anaylytics

  • How your visitors found your website – this is very important for determining which of your efforts are paying off. It shows if visitors found your site directly, through a referral from another website (ex: Twitter, Facebook), or from search engines.
  • Web browsers used by your visitors – knowing which web browsers your visitors use allows you to know which browsers you should be focusing on.
  • What keywords were used by visitors in the search engines to get to your website – this is very crucial for SEO. Knowing which keywords people are searching for to get to your site determines if you are on the right track.

What is Google Analytics and why is it SUPER mission-critical?

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic.

Even though “web analytics” sounds like a very small area of your digital presence, the implications of Google Analytics are in fact huge.

This is because for most companies, your website serves as a hub for all of your digital traffic.  If you are running any marketing activities such as search ads or social media ads, your users are most likely going to visit your website somewhere along their user journey.

Given that your website is the central hub of your digital presence, your website is the best way to give you a holistic view of the effectiveness of all the campaigns you are running to promote your product/services online.

Google Analytics is a free tool that can help you track your digital marketing effectiveness.

That’s why over 50 million websites around the world uses Google Analytics.

If you are not using it, you should set it up right now.

Why Use Google Analytics?

This Aprosites lesson is all about getting that first million visitors to your site.  Put simply, Google Analytics is the most popular tool you can use to measure those visitors.  You shouldn’t use a tool because it is popular, though.

Most folks who choose GA do so because

  • It is really powerful (“enterprise-class”) software.
  • The Standard version is free. You got to love that!
  • Google’s tremendous cloud infrastructure allows them to rip through very large data sets rather quickly.
  • It has a nice, clean User Interface. Courtesy of Google…who currently runs the Earth!
  • They want to use data to make informed business decisions.

That last point is the most important one.  Let’s not be naive; data on it’s own is meaningless.  But when used properly, data will help you see what’s working well, what’s not working, and help you make decisions about “what to do next.”
